Fostr’s AppFolio integration connects your property management data directly to your AI operating system. This page explains how credentials, access, and permissions work, along with how your data is securely managed once the connection is live. Understanding these details ensures your AppFolio data is accessed safely, that the correct endpoints are enabled, and that your organization retains full control over visibility and management inside Fostr.

Credentials and Access

Connecting AppFolio to Fostr requires credentials generated from your organization’s AppFolio account through the Manage API Settings page. These credentials are part of the AppFolio Stack API (also known as the Database API) and use the OAuth 2.0 standard for secure, permission‑based access.

The required credentials are:

After entering the Client ID and Client Secret in Fostr, you will complete authorization through AppFolio’s OAuth page. Fostr then receives and stores a Refresh Token, which securely renews access as needed so that data continues to sync automatically without manual logins.

All credentials are encrypted and stored within the AppFolio Integration record in Fostr. They are write‑only, never viewable in plaintext, and accessible only to designated administrators.

Fostr does not request additional OAuth scopes beyond those AppFolio enables for your account. API endpoints are controlled by AppFolio and typically include: Properties, Units, Occupancies (Tenants), Leases, Bills, Charges, and Work Orders.

If your AppFolio plan does not currently include Stack API access, contact [email protected] to confirm activation and endpoint approvals before connecting to Fostr.

Permissions and Visibility

Once the connection is authorized, Fostr syncs data from the approved endpoints and organizes it into structured Recordsets that power analytical dashboards, workflows, and automations.
