Fostr’s Jira integration connects internal backlog and project tracking workflows directly into your AI operating system. This page outlines key access controls, credential requirements, and data visibility considerations to ensure your team understands how Jira data is accessed, who can see what, and how to maintain secure, role-based context in automated workflows.

Credentials and Access

To activate the Jira integration, Fostr requires internal credentials provisioned through Jira’s API platform. These credentials typically include:

The integration is configured at the tenant level, meaning a single set of credentials provides consistent access to project and issue data across the organization’s Jira instance.

All credentials are encrypted and securely stored within the Integration record in Fostr. Access is limited to Administrators and approved internal stakeholders, with strict environment-level protections ensuring credentials are write‑protected.

No custom OAuth scopes are currently required beyond the default Atlassian permissions needed for issue, board, and project access. However, the Atlassian account associated with the token must have sufficient rights to view and manage issues within the targeted Jira projects.

A test instance is available to validate connectivity, confirm credential accuracy, and simulate data ingestion workflows before deploying the integration into a production environment.

Permissions and Visibility

Once enabled, the Jira integration makes project and issue data available within Fostr workflows. Typical use cases include:

Access within Fostr is governed by a combination of Jira’s native permissions and Fostr’s internal role model:

Visibility is not configurable at the Jira integration layer. Instead:

The Jira integration requires minimal ongoing maintenance. However:
