Fostr’s Monday.com integration makes it easy to connect project boards, status updates, and team-owned workflows directly into your AI-powered operating environment. This page addresses common questions around access control, API credentials, and workspace-level permissions. It will help your team understand how Fostr authorizes board data, who has visibility into synced items, and how to manage secure, role-based access across your Monday.com integration.
Credentials and Access
Fostr connects to Monday.com using a Personal API Token generated by a Monday.com user. Along with the token, administrators must identify the boards, groups, and columns that Fostr will interact with.
Required items for setup include:
The integration is typically configured at the tenant level. A single API token can authorize access to multiple boards within a workspace, provided the token belongs to a user with sufficient rights.
All credentials are securely encrypted and stored within the Integration record in Fostr. Access is limited to Admins and designated internal team members and is strictly controlled by role and by environment.
To function properly, the token must have read and write access on the associated boards. This allows Fostr to track statuses, create items, and update fields. For best performance, the recommended practice is to provision a token from a user with full board access.
Note: Fostr references item IDs and column mappings to manage data. Individual user profiles or email addresses are not required, unless such fields are explicitly mapped into the board data.
Permissions and Visibility
Once connected, Fostr imports structured Monday.com board data to support workflows such as onboarding, task tracking, and project handoffs.
Common data ingested includes:
Visibility of Monday.com data inside Fostr is aligned to internal user roles. Only internal users with roles such as Admin, Operator, Designer, or Implementer will see the data once it is linked to Recordsets or Actions.
Unlike Monday.com, the integration itself does not enforce granular visibility. Instead, Fostr’s role-based access determines who can view or interact with imported data. Access is scoped by the workflows, dashboards, or Recordsets relevant to each user’s role.
