Fostr’s Slack integration connects chat-based collaboration with workflow automation. This page walks through how to check if syncing is functioning as expected.
Fostr Not Responding in Slack
If the integration is active but the Fostr bot does not respond in Slack channels, review these common causes:
- Incorrect or incomplete permissions during Slack app authorization
- Missing or invalid credentials in the Customer Slack Integration record
- Bot not added to the intended Slack channel
- Integration status in Fostr not set to Active
- Required Slack events (such as
app_mention
) not enabled in the app configuration
Invalid Verification Token Errors
If Slack returns an “invalid verification token” error:
- Verify that the verification token in your Slack App events configuration matches the entry in the Fostr Slack Integration record.
- If mismatched, update the field in Slack or Fostr so both values align.
- Reattempt the connection test once updated.
Duplicated or Out‑of‑Order Messages
Slack messages may sometimes appear duplicated or in the wrong order. This typically results from:
- Slack webhook endpoint delays or timeouts
- Slack’s automatic retry policy, which can trigger duplicate deliveries if the endpoint response is slow
- Multiple slash command triggers or repeated test submissions
Revoking or Disabling Slack Access
To disconnect Slack from Fostr:
- In Slack, open the app management console and navigate to Settings > Install App > Revoke App.
- In Fostr, update the Customer Slack Integration record and set the integration status to Inactive.
